they/them literally just asking questions "in the morning." journalist.
i don’t think this dude is nyt staff! but it also doesnt necessarily come from the gov; it’s probs a researcher or university / academic pr team, IMO

importantly, sometimes orgs give embargoed stuff like this to jounros they like, but oftentimes, it’s just everyone on a big list somewhere

i also dont have any info suggesting he was the only one to receive the intel. lots of reporters could have. its a common part of the news process! its called getting an "embargoed" press release.

hoping this explainer helps folks evaluate the news they see + the processes behind it

a lot of folks are describing this as a "leak." while it seems this ben ryan guy may have "leaked" the doc early, i dont think its fair to assume researchers "leaked" it to him in some clandestine conspiracy. reporters often get early info on studies & are told not to release it until a certain date

Here’s some clearer screenshots, but I haven’t been able to access the full text.

i saw that, but that seems to be a different study based on the text of that doc—or are you seeing something I don't? 😅

Do you know how to access the document Ryan posted about? Is it public info or did he maybe tweet out something embargoed? If you know, pls DM me. Didn't wanna do a formal write up without further confirmation. Thanks!

Ryan deleted the post shortly thereafter, but I was able to retrieve that screenshot from Google search metadata as pictured above. There are also other posts about it still up from Ryan, replying to other people who commented on the now-deleted posts.

It's suuuuper blurry so take with a heavy grain of salt, but here's what I *think* the screenshot says this.

This AM, Ryan posted: "The long-awaited UK puberty blocker clinical trial protocol is out. It will be a randomized controlled trial comparing immediate vs delayed-by-one-year start of puberty blockers among 226 gender-incongruent youth." This was accompanied by what looks like a screenshot of a doc:

Is it any more or less beneficial to donate to EAPM vs the word patreon?

4. The HHS report’s “peer review” process, which wasn't a real peer review process, was riddled with other abnormalities, too. One contributor admits to creating a rubric for evaluation using Google Gemini AI, a language learning model.
