🌕 He answered three 'guess the game' prompts incredibly confidently and accurately and then the instant he didnt know for like five seconds the fox was all 'I only learned about videogames a month and a half ago. I come from a setting without electricity. What the fuck do you want from me?'

it was effective two more times than that but it was a joke both times which does not help matters (once when it was "he wont remember that" because he was blackout drunk and when you skip the credits for tales from the borderlands it says "we will remember that"

even something very stilted like "oh, <JIM> is <FEELING MORE DEPRESSED AND RECKLESS> since you <GOT MAD AT HIM FOR EATING TOO MUCH>" is prefereble to the game having god's own text box come in while a character goes ":O" to say "this choice mattered"

and my immediate response is that they should be able to communicate that this was a consequence within the natural in character boundaries. if the only clue that choice A led to death B is the game telling you in an after-game rundown that it did so, its not good.

because yeah, man, no shit he's gonna remember that.

even dumber example: could you imagine if you fuck up the check to make kim dance with you and it had this? you call kim a slur. having the godawful "kim will remember that" in the corner would completely defang the situation because of how surreally immersion breaking it is.

at the very least not by default. god. could you imagine... *cheecks my bag of examples and notices there's only disco elysium in it* could you imagine diso elysium if every time you did something kim had a lasting problem with you about, you got a popup telling you "no, that one actually counted"??

all of them were designated for the team's break room, where the general manager rich (who hates pan) spends all his time.

anyway, thanks @ambergate18up.bsky.social
