I mean it’s a full turing-complete programming language with an extremely robust ecosystem and an incredible scientific/numeric programming set of libraries, so I’d say so

I haven’t used them much, but I’m led to understand that scipy and numpy are what folks reach for first these days

I’m not a python dev, but am confused by this take. The language seems fine, and a lot of cool scientific stuff is built on the ecosystem built around it.
Would you be interested in expanding your position?

With all the respect it deserves, absolutely the fuck not

The home page one the app is infuriating to me now. I am on there to see the people I choose to support, not have randos thrown at me. Just show me the feed of people I want to see

I loved reading this list, and feel like I want to prioritize a lot of these films. In the mean time it’s important to remember that BIM is on the way

Remember:

- they DO NOT CARE about your arguments/rebuttals

- they DO NOT CARE about your dunks

- the person running the accounts was specifically hired to drive engagement BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY; it’s the algorithm they’re catering to

This is a game, and to them you are data to be manipulated.

I love ZZ! It’s definitely a bit of an adjustment after Zeta, especially since it picks up pretty close to the end of Zeta, but it might actually be my favorite? I love the kids and all of the villains are just so great.

Everyone deserves that and you do too. Don’t give up on yourself.

Thinking is a very different thing from an abstract procedure. Literally the only similarity I can think of between thought and a LLM is that some words describing the mechanisms for each have a ‘neur’ prefix. If you can think of more similarities, I’d love to hear them

The formula can’t do or model anything. It’s an abstract concept. A series of mathematical steps you may follow to get a desired result. It only exists as an abstract concept. Does a bread recipe bake bread? It does not. You bake the bread by following the steps as written. So, too, is a LLM.

This is a great way to express this. It’s like asking if ‘x = 2y + b’ can think. Of course it can’t, because it’s not even a concrete thing or an entity, or even a process. It’s a formula. Apply it to a y and a b, and you’ll get an x. Given many y and b values, you can make a chart. Thats it.

LLMs aren’t capable of introspection, though. They’re mathematical functions that don’t even exist without a prompt. No thoughts, motivation, lived experience, or ability to gain insight.

They produce sentences that sound like someone thought about them, and that’s the whole bit.

That makes sense and sounds totally viable.

The vacation is going to the thicket to slap around a different boss for a change :)

Ooh I’m going to try this. If for no other reason, getting a vacation from the muck sounds nice. Thanks for potentially saving me another week of dwindling patience for further attempts!

I feel this, and I wish I didn’t. I’ve been on that Groal grind for a week, and I gather it’s optional, but it’s always going to there. Problem is, I am not having fun with it. I see Groal in one try out of four, then start tilting on the run back, and put the game down for the day.
