On Twitter I made a thread where I watched and commented upon every episode of #DoctorWho.

Over the years I've bought a surprising amount of #BigFinish audio stories and can't keep track of them. So I'm going back to the start and listening to them. I apologise in advance
Threads.

After 30 years of having it overhyped to me as a mythically horrifying and disturbing film that no-one who saw it recovered from, I finally watched it. And they were right.
Never mind movies you’ve watched multiple times, name a movie you’ve watched once and would never watch again.

The first episode of The War Between The Land And The Sea (not a title made for BlueSky character limits, obvs) flew by. A couple of clunky scenes and dialogue but I was engrossed; I hope the rest of the series holds up that well

And I had to suffer Ncuti as Marlowe
Just a reminder that there's a Will Shakespeare miniseries from the heyday of BBC historicals starring Tim Curry as Shakespeare and Ian McShane as Marlowe, and it's on youtube:

It is kind of a throwback whenever I see Americans throw that word around with reckless abandon.

A weird IT guy said it at work the other day and the whole room went silent
I hate how casually ppl be using the R slur I tryna watch important videos but I can't because they just call stupid ppl that word and throw it around alot n it triggers me and brings me back to when I was called it as a kid because I was obviously neurodivergent and undiagnosed

Really nice use of a mirror in this shot from upcoming RTD drama Tip Toe.
Gives a better look at Morrissey but also makes Cummings look trapped between the Morrissey's.

That won't be by accident.

I saw an Adobe advert on the tube last night that was basically ‘we have genAI but you still have to be an artist to use it’
I'm glad we're at the point now that there seems to be enough pushback against genAI that marketing firms have to get overly defensive about using it.

I love London so much. So much.

Did you know that London has the lowest level of ethnic violence of any city of comparable size in the world?

Multiculturalism has in fact worked here. They just don’t want it to be true because we happen to have a Muslim mayor.
In London, hate will never win.

Out of nearly 100 qrts, there was EXACTLY one that rightfully called out this article as clickbait and provided a contextual screenshot of what they actually meant

This isn't Gen AI, nor is it a misinformed executive. It's the same team that weathered the CGI boom saying they're ready for round two

Good on Penn Jillette. Having to come to terms with your entire political identity and philosophy being wrong is not easy and most people could never do it.

Well. Looks like London’s new Tolkien theme park is going to be this year’s Glasgow Wonkaland.

This period is called advent so it's not even like you can't do something for now
the twelve days of christmas - and I cannot emphasise this enough - are 25 December - 5 January. we are not currently in a day of christmas. marketing departments stop it. STOP IT

I remember being in the cinema for the second time I saw this and when Bond gets out of his car, just for an excuse to show some beautiful Scottish scenery, the kid behind me said to his gf 'pffft, as if Britain looks that nice.' So parochial, some people
Your admin Rob Manuel is brave enough to try Anon Opin Live. Come to the Leicester shows (12–13 Feb 2026). Let's argue - in person. https://sites.google.com/view/fesshole

Is Michael Crawford really performing for Trump? That's an unexpected disappointment.

Not unexpected in his views (I never considered what they might be) but that Trump would know who he is

This will probably end with our basic rights and freedoms taken away because arseholes can’t be trusted not to be arseholes.

How Meta Glasses aka stalker glasses have made it onto the market, I’ll never know
In terms of what’s understood to be socially acceptable behavior, normalizing the filming/taking pictures of people in public who are minding their own business (and putting it online) is one of the worst developments of the past 15 years.
Woman Hailed as Hero for Smashing Man's Meta Smart Glasses on Subway
A New York subway rider has accused a woman of breaking his Meta smart glasses. She was later hailed as a hero.

I hadn’t heard of Olivia Nuzzi until yesterday and she seems insufferable and idiotic, but writing that phone conversation down in full is a superb piece of potted Beckett theatre
A scene from American Canto. Olivia Nuzzi tries to visit the WWE Hall of Fame, only to discover that it is not a physical building.

Hey it's *Bandcamp Friday* again. The best day to go find that artist who was top of your Spotify unwrapped and actually buy their music, because all the proceeds go to them today. And by god do musicians need it.

I’ve still not bought any of the Doctor Who Blu Rays, as I bought the DVDs too recently. When they touted new special effects I did not realise they really meant It; not new visual effects (CGI) but new (physical) special effects
We took a break for a couple of seasons, but we’re back, yeeting bits of plastic across a room for Doctor Who Season 21!

Almost 470 shots across 5 stories, more than half of which are in Warriors of the Deep alone, which I'm pretty sure sets a record.

It’s quite absurd that the Doctor Who Blu-Ray press releases never tell you the two most important facts:
a) when the release date is
b) what/when the BFI screening will be
