Guys, I know what you're thinking: that fixes one song without a canal, but what about all these other songs without canals? Look no further! We've got you covered!!

Here's @thebeaches.bsky.social with "Blame Brett," now with your FDA-recommended daily dosage of canal fully met!

Here's "Expert In A Dying Field" by @thebeths.bsky.social now with 100% more canal!

The single most cheer-inducing sequence of Scorsese's filmography is also in CASINO: it's when Joe Bob Briggs @therealjoebob123.bsky.social appears. Every time I forget he's in it, and every time I say, "Holy shit, it's Joe Bob Briggs!"
Martin Scorsese’s Vegas mob drama “Casino” (released 30 years ago this week) features the single most wince-inducing sequence of his entire filmography.

The number of people who still insist Skyler was the villain in BREAKING BAD is alarmingly high

"Restrained and proper." The only correct response to this is to use the words that the restrained and proper Dick Cheney introduced to the Senate floor:

Go fuck yourself, Peter Baker. Go fuck yourself.
It was a memorial service much like the man, restrained and proper yet charged with quiet energy. But as Washington honored Dick Cheney for his service and devotion to country, it underscored how much politics has turned topsy in this country. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/20/u...

I like listening to podcasts while I read comics, which is how I just now find myself reading HARLEY QUINN while listening to the SUICIDE SQUAD episode of @flophousepodcast.com in which Elliott Kalan, current writer of comics character Harley Quinn, makes fun of movie character Harley Quinn

Speaking of "Chaise Longue," two things:

1) Is your muffin buttered?

2) Would you like us to assign someone to butter your muffin?

Oh, also, I am absolutely the kind of garbage person who pronounces it "Chase Lounge"
I've found a third band to like this year, which is good because I've listened to @thebeaches.bsky.social "Blame Brett" and @thebeths.bsky.social "Straight Line Was A Lie" about a thousand times each by now. This is "Chaise Longue" by Wet Leg and I am going to listen to it about a thousand times

Reading book 3 of THE MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY and lamenting again that I'll probably never get to see the TV adaptation (w/ Tony Hale & Kristen Schaal!), which ran for 2 seasons on Disney+ and was disappeared 4 months after it was canceled, making it (as Wiki puts it) "lost media by legal means"
"In addition to dropping the live networks, YouTube TV also is removing any DVR library recordings users have made from those networks." This is the REAL bullshit here. DVDs of tv shows barely exist now because they're all streaming, right? But streamers can disappear those shows whenever they want

This Patricia Lockwood tweet about Franzen is making me think I can pass off my DNF of THE CORRECTIONS because it was long and boring as a moral choice on my part instead. (Also that I should add Lockwood's NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT THIS to my Libby holds)
Everything these people write reminds me of Tricia Lockwood’s tweet but they are both Jonathan Franzen

Matt Ruff's BAD MONKEYS. The battle of Good vs. Evil. Or is it? Yes, it is. OR IS IT??? I like Matt Ruff and I tore through this in two days, a brisk and entertaining tale of morality and how we perceive it with sci-fi elements and a crafty narrator

Carl Hiaasen's BAD MONKEY. Pretty good Florida comedic crime novel featuring wacky violent hijinks. Basis of a pretty good Vince Vaughn tv show. If you've read Elmore Leonard, you've read this but better. If you've read Tim Dorsey or Dave Barry, you've read this but worse.

"Blessed" with a Knicks jersey. Blasphemy! The pain on the Pope's face every time someone gives him sports stuff that isn't the White Sox. HE LIKES HIS ONE THING, DON'T GIVE HIM KIND OF THAT THING AND ACT LIKE YOU'RE SO CLEVER. You like Batman? Have some Ant-Man. That shit is getting regifted, Spike
Spike Lee just blessed Pope Leo with a custom Knicks jersey during his visit to the Vatican, just one week after the Pope was gifted a custom Chicago Bulls one.

Flags are at half-staff at court house across the street from Seattle Central Library. Been trying to figure out why. Did they just not raise them again after Veterans Day? Are flags even lowered on Veterans Day? Puzzling

Pierce Brown's RED RISING. Fun and compelling book 1 of an ambitious sci-fi epic, action-packed and heavy with social commentary that mostly worked but at times gave me unsubstantiated vibes that I may be disappointed if I looked up, say, the author's political views or controversies
