Two questions will define the next chapter:
How far will the US go to protect its Big Tech giants and how far are we willing to go to protect ourselves?

We will see what the reactions will be on the other side of the Atlantic and whether the US will take any retaliatory measures. Within the EU itself, there are divisions over the implementation of the DSA.

If X fails to comply with the decision, the company may face recurring penalties, which could have a negative financial impact.

So, what's next for X? The clock is ticking after the DSA fine:
60 days to fix the deceptive use of blue checkmarks (Art. 25)
90 days to submit an action plan for the Ad Repository & providing data access for researchers (Art. 39/40) DSA.

Although the €120 million fine is a considerable amount for X, equating to around 4.7% of its annual revenue, it will not jeopardise the company's financial health.

X hindered also access to platform data for researchers monitoring disinformation and failed to provide the public and researchers with effective access to the required Ad Repository.

What was the main issue? X introduced paid verification (X Premium), allowing anyone to buy a "blue check" without identity verification.
This blurred the line between genuine, verified accounts (like politicians/journalists) and paid accounts, increasing the risk of disinformation and manipulation.
