Frances Benjamin Johnston. I'm renting a furnished room here when I go back; 910 Orleans. At present, this old building has undergone terrible renovations

I'll prolly get this wrong, but the 2nd version of the original Orleans Ballroom (famous for subscription balls and alleged "Quadroon Balls"), first burnt down in 1816, used in later years by the catlicks, then partially demolished (thanks, Ricca) to be incorporated into the Bourbon Orleans Hotel

Original Mother's early 1965, before widening of Poydras. "World's Best Baked Ham" sign and business was moved back as the front half of the building was demolished later in the year. That's why the facade of the building looks wrong today. Note WTC under construction

Boesch 1934 map excerpt showing filled areas at the Lakefront. Only Lake Vista ready for development, otherwise a significant Federal presence

Not a huge fan of Galloway, but this is a frank interview of Anne Applebaum regarding what's become of American "diplomacy" under the present regime. Good frame to understand Witkoff/Kushner/Dimitriev travesty www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAn3...

Paved roads in red, 1918. Irish Channel, Carrollton, and Backatown mainly unpaved (note many of the streets shown by the lake and back of town were still notional (e.g. upper part of City Park was never carved up)

Back in the aftermath of the Federal Flood, I did a lot of driving between H-Town and the Croissant City. Always thought I would use the I-10 exits as names for characters in my upcoming southern gothic novel

Aftyn Behn is going to fall a little short here but the shift from 2024 in today's election in central Tennessee is looking like ~15 or so points to the left.

The big surprise to me is total turnout, specials normally are very low turnout but this may have more voters than the '22 midterm in TN-07
