Consume Me (by @qdork.bsky.social, @apthomson.bsky.social, @frogfungus.bsky.social)

My new GOTY for the year 2025. The fantastic ending bookends a satisfying and thematic gameplay loop that all just WORKS in so many different ways. The 2D/3D artstyle and soundtrack complimented the game beautifully

SWAT 4 (2005)

Played this and it's DLC for the first time, going "non-lethal" and solo w/out my squad. Frustrating at times with how unpredictable suspects can be, but it was otherwise a blast to play. Environments were juicy af. Obviously police fantasy, but they didn't shy away from the horror.

_ΩMEGA_POINT (by @cathroon.itch.io)

This game was absolutely splendid, so I wrote a bunch of words for it. It's a mech exploration game where you listen into nearby radio stations. 🧵

Earlier this year, I got together with some friends to make 5 little games over a week in Milwaukee, WI that were put into a compilation. They include exploration, racing, puzzles, and co-op action. The package also includes a lengthy post-mortem from every dev.

This game is crunchy and gross and beautiful. Play it.

Here's some shots of the mall. Honestly, it was quite relaxing to explore. There were some other people, but not nearly enough.

I got one of these guys at a mostly abandoned mall in Minnesota. It was a mystery box and apparently this is the rarist thing I could have pulled. I like him. He's cute and has the gay eyes.

Metal Garden (2025, @aleksandraht.bsky.social)

Brutalism sickos are drooling at the mouth at this game (this includes me). Fantastic level design reminiscent of Halo CE and other classic FPS games I haven't played, rewarding lots of exploration. Gunplay feels good. Lore is intriguing. Good game.

Crysis (2007) Remastered (2020)

A pretty darn satisfying day-time stealth-action game that turns into a purely-action game during the last third. Soundtrack reminded me heavily of Turok Evolution. It feels in conversation with Halo 3 and Brute Force for the Xbox. A 2007 game design dead end.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach (2025)

Second game to make me cry. First was the first Death Stranding. Story was a bit messier, but it really brought it all together in the end. Soundtrack was great. The continued use of Low Roar songs felt like a heartfelt farewell letter to the late singer.

I spent the last part of my birthday today sharing all of @108.bsky.social's review of DOOM with my good friends. I think I got them all interested in his style of video and humor. Banger review.

Happy pride. ACAB. No Kings. Free Palestine. Death Stranding 2 is pretty good so far.

I was too absorbed by 1000xResist to remember to take any screenshots. My friend and I were gripped by it almost the entire time playing through it. There is a chapter in the second half of the game that was just so touching and thoughtful, something I will remember for a long time.

Some context. This is a similar drawing to one I made in 2020 from a screenshot from Resident Evil 1. This one is trying to capture my memories of playing NFL Fever 2003 from an Xbox demo disc on a widescreen TV stretching everything out.

Got friends coming over to watch the Classic Tetris World Championship together. This shit is always so fun to watch. It's been great seeing this scene develop.

Tiny Echo (2017, a video game by Might and Delight)

A delightful atmospheric adventure game in a strange little world that doesn't get bogged down by esoteric puzzle logic. Heard about this game through the grapevine years ago, but forgot about it until I spotted it deep in my Steam library.

The End of Gameplay (a video game by @droqen.bsky.social)

A poetic look at an idea of an idea about gameplay and the lack of it. Much food for thought, mixing with some ideas in my own head about game spaces and freeform experiences. I can already feel it inspiring little seedlings in my mind.

I Am Your Beast (2024, a video game by Strange Scaffolding)

A great fast-paced speedrun/highscore-focused shooter with great gun feel and a fantastic soundtrack that drove the whole thing. I also really enjoyed the minimalist but punchy mostly-text-based story presentation and dialogue.
