Writer, teacher, bowler (sometimes). Strong opinions on coffee, gin cocktails and sandwiches. Hopelessly idealistic. Mostly harmless. He/him
Hey Fran! How you're doing well.

I was just sharing with one of my kids how you would have these amazing drawings in your journal from fountain pens and water pens.

Also, fuck Merrick Garland for slow walking obvious criminal activity just so he somehow wouldn't appear biased.

Although this started as a federal raid, and was originally escalated to pepper spray and tear gas by federal agents, SPPD officers have a lot to answer for in their conduct yesterday.

Good grief...I guess that guy decided opinions are just a no go on the interwebs, huh?

Breakfast Club is a good time, but Heathers sits with you for weeks afterward. It's weird and wonderful.
November 24, 2025 at 6:31 PM
To be fair, I would rate Heathers as better than Dirty Dancing as well.

But I'm a weirdo like that.

You are objectively right, though.

Swapping Naked Gun with Airplane! and I think you could make a case.

But the whole list is just rage-bait with both notable inclusions and exclusions.

Came here to say exactly this.

Not in my experience. A turkey gravy can take on a pale color like tan, but never just white.

Well, thank you!

I have not read that and I'm surprised it is not on my list. Thanks Didi!

It's a good post.

I guess for me, it hits different because I see the person being genuinely curious and using the language they know.

Which is something I see all the time with my students, and I guess I take it seriously when someone is trying. It burns me when people judge that.
November 21, 2025 at 5:25 AM
Good on you, John.

I posted earlier about this asking the same, though my language was a bit more brusque.

Weirdly, the only reply was someone who was, shall we say, not kind.

I truly don't understand people sometimes.

I'm trying to give you the benefit of doubt here. My preference is that you're not going to be rude in my mentions, and maybe hope against hope you consider what I'm saying.
November 21, 2025 at 4:37 AM
Look, I don't know you and you obviously don't know me. I don't know why you find it so offensive that a reader asked a question out of genuine curiosity, or why you're so offended that I had the temerity to point out that people were being cruel to someone who is trying to figure something out.
