3/3 We urge #Congress to assert its authority and safeguard the vitality of our nation’s education system by ensuring that the U.S. Department of Education fulfills its well-established statutory obligations.

2/3 In response, TICAS President @Gadkaree.bsky.social said the following: "These moves reflect the continued failure of this administration to properly steward federal education dollars and programs to benefit students."

4/4 TICAS urges the Department and federal policymakers to restore this funding so that more of the students who start college are able to complete and our nation has the educated workforce it needs.

3/4 These shifts, contrary to past Congressional intent, are a terrible blow to longtime, bipartisan efforts to scale evidence-based programming and intensive student supports that help more students graduate.

2/4 ED is eliminating funding that Congress provided to support specific programs, including the Postsecondary Success Grant Program (PSSG) and the Basic Needs for Postsecondary Students grant program, to instead fund unrelated priorities of the current Administration.

3/3 With this decision from the Dept of Ed, it is more crucial than ever that #Congress carves out funding to ensure students have the support they need to complete.
