I think we used to be far more tolerant of annoying ads because at one point there was a benefit to them: it gave us a chance to refill our drink, hit the bathroom, check the game score on another channel, investigate what the dog had starting upchucking in the laundry room, etc.

There is resistance, and it is growing every day; you just won't see it in any corporate news media.
