iirc in the case of Doom, Carmack and id were paid well and directly by Atari to carry out the port, which I think was enough to not make a loss on it even if the port and console flopped

Haven't felt great about art and part of it is pushing myself to make stuff when I'm not feeling up for drawing but still want to create.
There's only so much reserve energy I can burn through before I burn out.
