@nberlat.bsky.social it's also a typical martyrdom thing. You think you're being kind to others by letting them annoy you, but you're actually forcing yourself to hate them even more.

@parkermolloy.com I can't show sympathy, but this is also a pyramid scheme. They can't take in *every* failing student into their system. Some students are going to nuke their grade and not get Gainesed.

@JessTheUnstill I also have a tirade I repeat too often about how many corporate devs think everyone has a good internet connection...

@zachweinersmith.bsky.social like, I think you can see some of this in fantasies that they have of big AI companies effectively "killing" tech. They want oligarchs to have it all. They don't want gay hackers controlling their communication tools and saying "no" to defense contracts.
December 3, 2025 at 6:11 PM
@zachweinersmith.bsky.social my working theory about some of these people is they want tech safely contained in a government-aligned monopoly that serves conservatism and crowds out a more bottom-up tech industry.

@donmoyn.bsky.social there's a weird sort of convergence where paternalistic nyt liberals are functionally a lot like tankies. Authoritarianism doesn't become good when "we" do it.
