Talking Orioles baseball... like, all the time.
Genuinely weird to me to sign at that price point before the Winter Meetings even.

If somebody is whining after how much has been accomplished in the first ~month, then they just won't be happy regardless of what happens.

2/28 with the opt-out, great price and instantly feel pretty good about the back end of the pen with everybody sliding down a rung.

Rightfully so-- lot to do this off-season!

Lol you get it

Honestly, I'd rather just be hurt so I can start getting over it than live in the suspended state we're in now.

Or it could be good news!

Oh look at us, we're the Blue Jays. We've got an "ace" who's been in steep decline, a gimmick screwball thrower who's pitched like 5 MLB games, a TJ returner whose stuff was a standard deviation below average, the most inconsistent game-to-game pitcher on earth, and a strict two-pitch underperformer

Genuine masterpiece

What's the Andrew Friedman quote? "If you're rational about every free agent, you'll never sign any of them"?

With Clarke, I think it was a BA piece hyping him up last year that I'm mentally leveraging. But yeah certainly a high risk arm.
November 25, 2025 at 10:57 PM
Yeah I'm certainly projecting the results to improve for Fitts. But he's had 106/105 pitching+ the last two seasons, with the fastball jumping from a full minus to slightly above average by stuff. And just the big frame to support being able to carry that velo in a start. Feels like there's more

Fitts was hitting 99 early in the year before injuries derailed him. And I think Clarke's stuff certainly speaks to higher upside than just a reliever. They feel like pretty pessimistic outlooks on both arms.

Don't disagree with the sentiment that they were both pretty expendable for Boston though

I notionally threw the same package out there for DeGrom earlier today. Way more talent, way more money, way more risk lol
