Today, the day b/f Thanksgiving, the @kentuckypress.bsky.social's Horses in History imprint has two books left on its list that I haven't covered. And those two are mine. When I started writing Sir Barton & the Making of the Triple Crown full time in 2014, I had no guarantee of finding a publisher.

I hope you will pick up one or all of these titles now during UPK's Holiday Sale. Use code FROSTY25 for 40% off!

Let's continue our look at the @kentuckypress.bsky.social's Horses in History imprint with these two titles from the late Milt Toby. He applied his legal expertise to two familiar topics for racing fans: the 1983 kidnapping of Irish stallion Shergar & the history of PEDs in the sport,

With the @kentuckypress.bsky.social's annual Holiday Sale going on through 1/31/2026, I wanted to highlight their unique connection to the sport of horse racing. Of course, being located in Kentucky makes UPK a destination for many an equine writer, and Dr. Jamie Nicholson, who also happens to helm

I am thrilled to share that our first two volumes are written by the wondrous Avalyn Hunter, who crafted the story of Holy Bull, and the accomplished Lenny Shulman, who lent his veteran skills to the career of the great A.P. Indy.

So this is my (intentionally) vague list of fiction projects I want to write. And yes that is 12 books. The first six are a series and the middle three are a second series and then the last three are another separate series. My biggest hindrance honestly has been confidence.

I have a pretty extensive library of books abt horse racing, but I still lack a few essentials that are just flat outside of my budget. The Racing in America series (five books covering the sport from 1665 to 1979) is one of those. I've seen complete sets sell for $1,500 or more.
