Career bookseller, that guy with the loud shirt from Cody’s, when it was. I’ve left Threads and the Twitterverse, so life is a little simpler these days. I firmly believe life should have a soundtrack.
A change to the algorithm:

Five concerts where you had NO idea what you were walking into, but they ended up changing your life-

Queen Latifah
Capitan Beefheart
Dead Kennedys
Paco de Lucia
The Residents

It will be a quiet day today. We lost Tiko on Sunday; the chronic became acute, and we had to help him across the rainbow bridge. We’re thankful for all the time we had with him, and will miss our little Canine Overlord greatly. Give your loved ones an extra scritch for us.

Watch (or Rewatch) one of my favorite films: "Broadcast News" (1987) - Dir. James L. Brooks

Fantastic performances by Holly Hunter, William Hurt, & Albert Brooks.

And, this unforgettable scene featuring Joan Cusack. ⬇️

November 18, 1918, France. Celebrating the end of a long, bloody war. I’m pretty sure my grandfather Cliff Harvey is to the far right, but it’s a little hard to tell, and the photo in the album doesn’t say.

The War to End All Wars didn’t.

Somehow, we keep forgetting to remember.

Collywobbles [KOL-ee-wah-buls]
(n.)
-Stomach pain or queasiness associated with looseness of the bowels.

Used in a sentence:
“Half the parish came down with spumiferous collywobbles after sampling Aunt Gertrude’s gelatinous aspic tart — it was likely the anchovies that had gone a trifle off.”

Not sure where or who this comes from, but it reflects the Portland I live in. Peach season is fading, though. That’s sad.

Update from Portland: supplies running low. Please send fig jam and artisanal cheeses. For the jam, prefer GF, vegan, small batch, processed by a guy named River, who only stirs it during Mercury retrograde.

Whatever you may think in general-Swift, SAG/AFRTA & AFM, and Kelce, NFLPA, makes this a Union union.
That’s a good thing.

Last week, Boston received a letter from AG Bondi threatening to prosecute officials and withhold funds unless we cooperate with carrying out mass deportations.

The US Attorney General asked for a response by today, so here it is: stop attacking our cities to hide your administration’s failures.

This comes after a law banned the flying of the flag but made an exception for "official flags."

Now, the Pride flag will fly defiantly in the state.
