Yup, you can add The Matrix to Jurassic Park, T2, Abyss and The Lord of the Rings on the list of films which totally relied on being packed with the absolute maximum of revolutionary use of CGI it was possible to use at the time, yet are remembered for "using only a minimum of CGI, when necessary"

I had to read that a few times because I didn't really get the contradiction, but now that I saw your reply to the same post somewhere else, I realize you meant to say "CGI is a craft" and not "CGI is slop"

YES. One million decisions are made on a film set every day, but take any one of those and blow it up in a "did you know this wasn't in the script" headline and the audience goes crazy because they know of a SECRETLY REAL moment from the film
