that’s a nice idea but we have ample example that elected officials answer more to their party than their constituents

hot take if elected officials are doing human trafficking, purge them from office and throw them in jail

so then what was the point of the shutdown if there was never a world where they win on the ACA subsidies? how do you explain it to a voter?
November 11, 2025 at 12:51 AM
those conversations can be easier or harder depending on the choices democrats make between now and November of 2026
November 11, 2025 at 12:40 AM
that’s the problem here. when I talk to an average voter in PA that isn’t overtly partisan, their perception is that republicans suck, but democrats are letting it happen.

we can argue whether that’s fair or not, but it’s the reality, and it’s a tough reality to try to cut through.
November 11, 2025 at 12:39 AM
don’t disagree on that front!

but when people face skyrocketing healthcare premiums, is it easier or harder to pin the blame on the GOP when the perception is that Democrats backed down and are letting it happen?

it can’t just be “look, we can’t be any worse”
November 11, 2025 at 12:37 AM
that's a great pitch to the highly engaged voter, but how does that work with the average person that doesn't like politics and doesn't consistently vote?
November 11, 2025 at 12:22 AM
you don’t see the actions of safe democrats as influencing overall voter perception of the party writ large?
