A tick-tock cicada, Physeema quadricincta! Pretty common in the Perth area (and broader SW of WA) in summer, responsible for that near constant ticking sound you might be hearing.

They're pretty abundant on campus at Joondalup! And definitely hear a few of them at my place in the northern suburbs
