From @desmos.com graph to Tinkercad to a phyical 3D printed object. My first 3D print of a Desmos project. I added a loop in Tinkercad so that I could add a string and hang it. #ITeachMath @edtechcocek.bsky.social

Calculated the volume of my chess pawn in Desmos with integrals as 3.92cm^3. Used a graduated cylinder to measure the displacement of the piece as approximately 4ml. Calculation confirmed! Had to hold down the pawn with the point of a pencil since it floats otherwise. #ITeachMath

Compared mine to an actual chess pawn… Seems that I made a pretty good estimate on size.

A chess piece planned in @desmos.com, designed in Tinkercad, and printed on a 3D printer. I’m hoping to have my Calculus 12 students design their own chess pieces this year as we explore volumes of rotation. @edtechcocek.bsky.social #ITeachMath

Also kept track of how many times people said "6, 7" as the walked down the side walk... 43 times... about 24% of visits. My favourite costume of the night was Trogdor the Burninator.

Halloween Histogram 2025. The rain stopped this evening and we had the temperature stayed pleasant (13C-ish). 175 trick-or-treaters visited the house... about the same as last year. #HalloweenHistogram #MathOrTreat #StatsChat #ITeachMath

Gearing up for tomorrow’s #NSMTA2025 math conference. Wearing my most high tech “smartwatch”. Don’t think it’s AI powered…

Planning my Halloween jack-o-lantern display. Pretty spooky stuff if you're a math teacher. Do you like just the numbers or the numbers with a creapy smile underneath? (two versions from two different AI image generators). #ITeachMath

Created a binary number esti-mystery. Students practicing powers by working with binary and base 10 number conversions. The final clue is a bit of a giveaway. Check out this site for lots of examples: stevewyborney.com/category/est... #ITeachMath #MathsToday

New Teacher Pro Tip: the best paper cutter in the school is probably the oldest one. This Ingento in the second floor staff room is probably older than I am but cuts beautifully. #ITeachMath
