I chuckled at your post, because my first thought was that I accept “American” due to its negative connotation of the “ugly American” stereotype. (We deserve it.) Then I saw your response that the imprecision gives the illusion of American exceptionalism, but my 1st thought was the opposite. 🤷‍♂️😆
