"What are you doing here?" The young noble froze. Slowly, he turned around to face the last person he wanted to see. Hubert was standing at the threshold, untouched by the squares of silver light streaming in. "Is… this not my room?" Ferdinand tried. "What a careless misstep on my part!" Hubert raised the three hairs that he called an eyebrow and folded his arms. "This operetta is in rather poor taste, wouldn't you say?" Then once more, sharply: "What are you doing here?" Calling it a situationship is crazy when the situation is they don't want you.

Byleth let go of Ferdinand and crossed their arms, waiting. The silence between the trio stretched, until it snapped. "I apologise-" Ferdinand blurted out. "Only a minor dispute, I assure you," Hubert said at the same time. Somehow neither response came as a shock. Byleth gave them their best (not very good) 'I'm not mad, just disappointed' look. Ferdinand visibly wilted, while Hubert only averted his face. "I don't care who started it," they said, "but I expect this not to happen again." No sooner had they finished speaking than they realised it would absolutely happen again if the two remained in close proximity before they had the time to cool off.

Ferdinand combed his hair with more care than usual, retied his cravat, and then finally shoved his clammy hands into his pristine white gloves. That was as as much stalling as he could permit himself. As he reasoned with himself on the way out of his room, he most likely wouldn't run into Hubert until their classes started, and the lessons would provide ample distraction from the unpleasantness of the previous day. Unless, of course, he ran into Hubert right outside his door. "Good morning," Ferdinand managed to say through the lump in his throat. Hubert glanced at him, his face unreadable. "If you insist."

Ferdinand leaned forward — probably couldn't quite hear him over the noise — and, words tripping over one another began: "I was wondering… that is, if you would consider… maybe we could-" A familiar voice interrupted him. "There you are!" Ferdinand straightened up, his face flushed. Hubert cursed inwardly. He'd never been less happy to see Dorothea, and she almost caught him disposing of a body once in the Academy. Still, he schooled his features into his best approximation of polite amiability. To an outside observer it looked more like constipation, but that shouldn't erase the effort expended.

"That would not be a wise move, seeing as we are often in close contact." Nothing would be gained and much could be lost if he followed her advice and made a fool out of himself in front of Ferdinand. "And even if that weren't a concern, as a man, I stand no chance." "Hubert, it's not normal that a shopkeeper faints at the merest sight of you." Close enough. "Maybe he fainted for an unrelated reason," he defended himself. "We are not having this discussion." Another sigh. "Hubert, you're prone to overworking yourself at the best of times, and I appreciate all that you do, but everything is under control. All that is required of you now is to focus on rest and recovery. If you must argue with someone, argue with Ferdinand."

They’d both matured since then, of course. He’d settle for a choker now. A length of velvet ribbon wound closely around his throat, felt with every swallow. A fine chain, dipping into the opening in his shirt before vanishing out of sight, if not out of mind. Ferdinand picked a random kerchief from the pile and held it against his neck. “What about this one?” ‘Utterly abhorrent,’ Hubert said, not unexpectedly, ‘it will suit you well.’

Honey made out of the pollen of a certain plant, found chiefly in Aegir and Rusalka, that was favoured by many for its mild aphrodisiacal effect. When Ferdinand brought back a jar from his last trip home and suggested they give it a try, Hubert saw no reason to refuse. After all, he'd developed resistance to most common toxins, and stimulants didn't particularly affect him either. His dose was smaller than Ferdinand's, too, because he didn't particularly care for the cloying sweetness. In conclusion, it was most unfair that he- He buried his face into Ferdinand's neck, trying to stifle a moan. "I did not expect you would be so sensitive," Ferdinand commented, his hand hovering a few millimetres above Hubert's back. "You're enjoying this," he growled through gritted teeth, palming himself over his trousers. "Well, I admit, it is not every day I have the pleasure of seeing you so…" Ferdinand trailed off. They'd ran into that a few times — even the tamest dirty talk came to him with considerable difficulty. Hubert looked up. His lover's pupils were noticeably dilated. It was supposed to be an indicator of something, but Hubert would be damned if he could recall what it was. Sweat was dripping down his neck. When did their sitting room get so hot? His skin itched. He dug his fingers into his side, rutting helplessly against his other hand. "How would you like me to assist you?" Ferdinand murmured into his ear. The words went straight to his cock, bypassing his brain entirely. Hubert groaned and uttered a sentence he never thought would pass his lips: "Keep talking." Of course that was the moment Ferdinand found himself at a loss of words. He licked his lips, praying for inspiration to strike and… "You are doing very well." … that was all he could muster. Deep breaths. He wrapped an arm around Hubert and leaned closer, his lips brushing his lover's ear when he tried again. "You are irresistible when you are like this, do you know that? Keep going, I can hardly wait to see you cum." His tongue tripped on the last word, and his own face was scarlet, flustered by his own vulgarity. But he promised to help, didn't he? An exaggerated sigh could be heard from Heidi's bed in on the other side of the small monastery room. "Had I known, I would bring some work of my own. What has you so mesmerised anyway?" "Hypnosis," Heidi murmured, wondering whether Friederike missed the hint that she wanted silence, or whether she had simply elected to ignore it. With her, either option was equally likely. A pause. "For combat purposes? I shudder to think what that would do in the wrong hands." A low chuckle rumbled deep in Heidi's chest. "Wrong hands?" She made a dismissive gesture and finally glanced at her lover. "It's not as simple as you imagine. It takes considerable experience to successfully hypnotise just one person, not to mention that not everyone makes a suitable subject. Though… some may be more susceptible than others." Friederike nodded slowly, tapping her chin deep in thought. "That makes sense. I find it hard to imagine falling for such a parlour trick myself." Heidi's first instinct was to correct her again, but she stopped herself in time. Instead she asked: "Would you like to test that assumption?" Friederike lit up. "Why not? Even though it most certainly cannot affect me, it might be an interesting experience nonetheless. Do with me as you please." The smirk that split Heidi's face should've warned her.
