“…Even if they are able to clean up his mess … elect a supremely sane president next, America will NEVER again be a trusted partner. Because there are enough Americans who would vote for him … (again).

I couldn't even say anything. She was right. The damage this has done is endless…”

We took it for granted back then, but "perchance greatly their superiors in all the attainments and virtues which adorn, or elevate, or ennoble human nature" contains more wokeness than a modern politician will get in his whole lifetime
On Aug 24, 1869, Ohio Rep. John Bingham, principal framer of the 14th amendment, gave a remarkable speech on “Equal Rights-Impartial Suffrage,” in which he said of those who sought to reject the principal of birthright citizenship, “no greater political atrocity than this can possibly be committed.”

I have an idea that may be lucrative, and I offer it free of charge: a book of Trump iconography. It would appeal to members of the church, so to speak, and also to people who would like these things documented, to marvel at, and shudder at.

As a longtime fan of HOW IT'S MADE, I can't say I'm surprised exactly by how much any manufactured good is essentially handmade but it's still striking to see how much of even high tech stuff like camera lenses is "a worker with a paintbrush and screwdriver moves stuff around by hand"

Contrary to what some liberal critics say, John Roberts has kept his pledge to only call balls and strikes. He never promised that the strike zone would be the same for Democrats and Republicans.

just to drive home the point. Texas created this map in August. the lower court rendered its decision November. So three months later, a year before the election in question.

We need to talk about the massive loophole that the Supreme Court just carved into election law over the shadow docket—giving states a free pass to enact patently unconstitutional voting rules within nearly *one year* of an election. A stunning new limit on judicial review. slate.com/news-and-pol...

The New US National Security Strategy is to secure the victory of pro-Kremlin populist parties all across Europe: Reform in the UK, the Pétainist Rassemblement in France, the Nazi AfD in Germany, and so forth. In other words, the US and Russian strategies are identical.

I find the fermi paradox obsession a little puzzling. We only very recently became capable of tracking NEOs and picking up interstellar objects, and if life/civilization is commonplace enough, it's probably pretty boring

Tbh if you plug in some more rational assumptions into the Drake Equation you wind up with an extremely sparse universe as far as intelligent life goes. As in 5-6 planets in the entire galaxy.

The Grabby Aliens hypothesis strongly suggests that if you're an intelligent species standing on the planet where you evolved, you are almost certainly one of the first intelligent species.

Nothing constructive to say about the worst National Security Strategy in this great nation's history. What is there to comment on? It reads like a 10th grader wrote it, it gargles Trump's balls for 5 or 6 pages, and it might as well come out and say the 14 words in some sections. What a disgrace.

What sticks out to me is how absolutely unafraid of prosecution this psychopath is. Part of it is narcissistic personality disorder, but it's mostly the perceived weakness of Democrats. Should they retake power, no one expects Democrats to hold anyone accountable.

The problem is not the pardon power. The problem is us. We weren't supposed to elect a crook as POTUS. If we did, the people we elected in Congress are supposed to do something about it. We're idiots, so we've elected crooks & cowards all the way up the line.

The problem is us. We need to fix us.
Giving the president the pardon power was a mistake. The most corrupt president in American history is conducting a jailbreak for his fellow criminals.

Trump’s malignant narcissism & pathological lying has rendered it pointless to quote him, interview him or even cover him. Trump is a parasite who survives by feeding on the media. The media can help its reputation & the country by no longer quoting or covering Trump. He is a psychic vampire.
