I think the problem combines with another problem, which is the notion that there's no value in doing something if it's not instantly ready to package and sell for big bucks as quickly and with as little effort as possible.

And it's particularly infuriating that these companies just gave themselves permission to steal ALL the work of ALL the artists, and are basically not getting as much as a slap in the wrist. I don't think we're being vehement enough about it.

Advocating for GenAI to replace creativity and dedication to any sort of craft is mediocrity at its most extreme. Guillermo del Toro was right to call it the aesthetics of fascism. Who needs to fund or support the arts if anyone can "do" them in an instant?
