Yeah, I wouldn't say it goes away in every situation but I definitely don't really think about it at work or when seeing friends and family. Occasionally something I see or hear might make a connection but I just file it away for future reference. That just seems to be the healthy approach

It's hard to pick as you've done so many good ones but I really love this one from Pop Culture Reference. Winnifer's expressions in every panel are just perfect

Nai-kee is the normal way but I've heard nigh-ks and nigh-yk plenty too. The problem with a sports clothing label using a lesser known god as their name in an era when regional pronunciations were a lot more likely to happen

I do think I'll continue to use the other artist's versions of it for other projects but this one specifically I think this is the right call.

Yeah, I think you're completely right about how my memories of that specific card outweigh the connection to the artist who illustrated it and who benefits nothing from whether it sits in a folder being ignored or actively gets used.

them before learning about the horrible things people have done, and that already owning them doesn't actively financially support those people.

Part of me is considering leaving it as it is and including it, as part of the acknowledgement that art and artist is always a messy part of the changing world we live in. Certainly I have films in my dvd collection involving worse people than this artist that I've justified keeping due to owning

I've considered it, but it also feels weird to deface something I've had for over 20 years at this point even in that small way. Like at that point why not just play one of the newer versions with different art.

I'm mostly rambling here, if you hadn't guessed, but the whole issue has been rattling around in my head for the last few hours and I'm still not sure what the right thing to do is in this case. Obviously using it doesn't support the artist, but it makes for an interesting dilemma.

I have a few Eternal Witness cards by different artists now in my collection, but the memory of opening that specific foil with friends at Uni. Of playing with it in games for years. They're a big part of my bond with wanting to include the card in this battle box.

However the artist who illustrated it has had a history of connection to the alt-right stuff, that's enough for me to actively not include her cards in my decks. I've purchased singles of those cards illustrated by other artists if I need to use them or simply done without. But this feels different

In this case though it's difficult because it's balancing memories with the politics of the artist. See I have a card that I opened early on in my Magic playing history, a foil Eternal Witness from Fifth Dawn. I've played that specific card in a lot of decks with various friends across my adult life

And that's where this issue comes in. There's a number of artists who have done questionable things in the history of the game. Some are abhorrent and I'd actively avoid using their cards, others are much more minor, and I'll continue to use their cards unless the card itself is the issue due.

Yeah, I should probably use more of them

Exactly. I'm honestly pretty sensible with my spending in it, it just leads to having too many cosmetics all the same
