Meanwhile, my rabbi has been on leave or light duty for over a month because he delayed getting the vaccine, got shingles, and still can't move without intense nerve pain despite being "over" his illness. Do NOT skip the shingles vax, folks.

Shingles can lead to permanent nerve damage that causes efferent nerves to stimulate afferent pain pathways. This neuropathy is not amenable to opiates, NSAIDs or acetaminophen. The best drugs we have for it are anti-epileptics with significant side effects. You do not want that life-long smoke.

In some contexts they can be more or less interchangeable. But "horseshit" generally sticks fairly close to "nonsense"; it doesn't have bullshit's senses of "lying" or "bureaucratic faff", or not to the same degree. "Bullshit" also feels milder, maybe because it's broader and more familiar.
