And so, there is inspiration to be had, and anger is directed at the right people, but the pithy phrasing of this Bluesky post makes it *seem* they raised $20,000 to briefly stop the orphan crushing machine, to paraphrase a popular tweet.

Since nobody official will take any real blame or make any real comment, the story goes to the *people* involved, who knew Cornelius Taylor, who lived with him and loved him, and tells the story of how the city's fuck up mobilized people to demand justice and change.

Well, yeah, it was a failure.

They say they plan to bring the big tree back every year for several more years, so I guess in that respect it would endure where the plastic sheet did not. I was thinking of just the winter.

Gatineau plans to upstage it next year with a proposed *92-foot tree* with a hot chocolate station inside of it.

Now, that'll be a big tree if they deliver.

If you can find me a taller real tree, I'm all eyes.

As for the rest. They wouldn't say, and probably not. The "rink" was around well after New Year's, as I recall, but I'll bet the tree gets better reviews.
