If @workday.com is really "Powered by AI" or whatever they say in their marketing, they would have a "Search" feature in their dropdown boxes that doesn't require you to type in an exact prefix match. The "Search" all across this system is terrible!

This old, silver #Apple keyboard that came with an iMac Pro years ago is still a fantastic keyboard. Much better than the current Apple Magic Keyboard.

This reads like an April Fool's joke. The first author in this "Sh-index" doesn't even get full credit for the paper. It's bad enough negotiating author order without these weightings!

This is egregiously evil, #Samsung. First, you force me to manually enter my e-mail to opt-out of a marketing list. THEN you make me confirm over e-mail via passcode. Remarkable!

Fun Unexpected Elements (@amsterdammed.bsky.social) show about gold. I was waiting to hear the famous factoid about gold's yellowy color being one of a prime of "relativistic quantum chemistry", but it never came! They even talked about relativity in the Q&A, but no "reflections" on gold.

For those that would prefer a test where they both had the same number of parts. Wouldn't you prefer that maybe the top and bottom would have the same number of points (and maybe top is better)? Doesn't this create headaches explaining partial-credit scores to students?
October 9, 2025 at 12:04 AM
Some would argue that the matching problem on top and the multiple-answer problem on the bottom should receive the same score, but #Instructure does not. Rather than choosing one convention for how to score them, #CanvasLMS decided to just use two different conventions...

We're not raising prices on everyone else! No, actually we're saving YOU more through your legacy bundle arrangement! MORE SAVINGS! Lucky you!

Found this (new?) setting in the Course Accommodation settings in #CanvasLMS. I can understand giving students more time, but randomly dropping an incorrect answer from all multiple-choice questions?! How does someone determine that THIS is the right accommodation for anyone?

Making your Unsubscribe link have almost no contrast difference with the background is so sleazy. You can do better, #PressCoffee!

Update: So much better with the #TMobile gateway. -67 dBm (!!) and upload speeds much better than I was hoping. Time to cancel VZW Home Internet and consider doing the same for our phones. -100 dBm at phones (VZW/Visible) isn't great and is not feasible at all for home Internet. South Phoenix, FYI.
July 7, 2025 at 4:37 PM
#Verizon Home Internet at our house has been struggling to maintain even -100 dBm, and upstream has been steadily decaying for months. Unloaded latencies are sometimes as much as 1–2 SECONDS! #Tmobile gets -80 dBm here. Picked up a Tmo gateway this evening. 🤞

@mikell.bsky.social On the subject of robots that really should not be humanoids... (and why does it have arms and hands?)

"Urinebot has is being tested at a hospital in Taiwan. The device will run an array of tests and send your results to your file."

Reminder: NIH changes requiring most authors to pay $2k (or much higher) for every publication will be the requirement for all federally funded research starting in 2026. And as Uni's shift subscr budgets to help pay for OA, those Uni's will lose access to older pubs.
