Today’s announcement puts down a marker for even more ambitious action.

The opportunity now is clear: scrap the benefit cap to help families in deep poverty and build this into a long-term #ChildPovertyStrategy, that puts children's wellbeing at the heart of the government's priorities.

Continuity of care is vital. Young people must not lose access to early support and learning from existing hubs must strengthen the new programme. #FundTheHubs

Overall, it was an inspiring day of data & facts, tied nicely together by a group of young people who brought this all together into a song titled "We Need Change"!
📢🎉

Thank you @youngliveskcl.bsky.social for having us at the launch!

Many of the findings & recommendations ring true to our own work here at TCS, including in the #GoodChildhoodReport 2025.
Regarding the provision of support & opportunities for creative & non-academic routes, & the extent to which our education system is inclusive.

Improving outcomes means tackling child poverty & wellbeing. Recommendations need funding & support for schools. This Review is a start, but real change needs bold, joined-up action putting children’s happiness & voice first.📢🫵

Assessment is important for monitoring progress, but additional assessment points are overdoing it & adding unnecessary pressure.

This represents a repeated failure to recognise the importance of monitoring young people’s wellbeing. Young people deserve that - not another test!🙌

📢 We welcome the Government’s commitment to PSHE at primary level &enrichment, but we urge them to go further 📢 By making PSHE statutory at secondary school, investing in specialist teacher training, & restoring youth services to support enrichment beyond the classroom.

However, curriculum reform alone, isn’t enough. The Review must drive a cultural shift prioritising wellbeing, long-term investment, & holistic support.

Our #GoodChildhoodReport shows school is where children feel most unhappy, with 2 in 5 worried about grades. The system needs change.📢✏️
