Companies will start treating graduates from red state public colleges as if they went to some third rate Bible college.

Working class families in Texas will still send their children to the University of Texas because they can’t afford a good alternative.

But what student from Michigan is going to choose UT Austin if the university is totally compromised?

How do you teach history, literature, sociology, etc. without touching those subjects?

They are going to wreck their university systems

Elite students will go elsewhere. Professors and researchers will go elsewhere. Donations will dry up.

Yeah, people made a very dumb choice last year and now we are suffering the consequences

Nobody thought she was gonna win in the deep south. I think the part that surprise many people was how unpopular she was with Latinos and even black voters.

Biden was so deeply unpopular by the spring of 2024 that he was on track to lose *New Jersey*

Trump won the national popular vote. The electoral college was not an important factor in 2024.

I think the outcome we are seeing in the flood insurance market is exactly what the Chicago economists would predict. It’s just a simple case of moral hazard.

I don’t think buyers are totally clueless about the risks. I think to a large extent people are assuming they will get bailed out of disaster strikes and that influences their decisions.

Athletic scholarships are worth several billion dollars a year

College tuition can be as much as 50 or 60 thousand dollars without those scholarships

That’s a prize worth fighting for! You can’t tell parents not to care about that

If your child is a star athlete she can get into nice colleges on a scholarship

If she gets third place, she won’t get the scholarship

Definitely the case that the remaining 400-500 million rural Chinese are lower skill than the urban Chinese but if China were willing to invest more in mechanized agriculture they could pull tens of millions more of those those workers into urban centers
