"I will go over here now" works in restaurants that have a pickup window, like Checkers or Five Guys where there are multiple people there.
There are literally two people at my store and literally just me working the front, if I tell you to stay put you damn well better stay put.

Like people already hate staying in line to pick up their ice cream after ordering for some reason. They always want to go literally anywhere else other than where I told them their food will be.
