As others have pointed out, the founders never foresaw a corrupt president (which we have) abusing the pardon power to absolve all criminals and miscreants for any reason, nor did our Daffy Duck Supreme Court ever think it might not be a good idea to put said president above the law.

Once “respected” professionals of all sorts have grabbed that golden ring of fleeting fame that has ruined many careers. The thing is, the line never ends. There’s always many more willing to step into the shit pile once the one before them goes down in flames. It’s a curious thing.
