Geeking out on transit, cycling, and amusement parks!
VIA rail making a stop at Chatham on a cloudy Saturday afternoon. Love the look of Siemens Charger train sets.

Rough location of where the CASO used to run in Niagara Falls. Clifton Hill is better off without the freight trains, but yes keeping these rails for passenger services could have been amazing.

Someone had to make one.

Seen today on the 401, can someone explain to me why these 2 trucks are street legal?

Seems like it not the ‘dictator’ part that warrants the red carpet, but the word that’s used before that.

Nearly 2/3rd of the way through the season, up by 4 games in the division, hold the tie breakers over 2nd and 3rd place teams, and yet somehow the Blue Jays are still the mathematical underdogs to win their division.

When roads are closed on the city for extended periods of time they complain about the road themselves, but often this work has nothing to do with the roads but the stuff underneath it. This project for example is intended to upgrade sewers that are over 100 years old.

The comments on this city of London Facebook post is a remindeder that people who live in cities who primarily drive want both roads in constant good repair, and to never experience construction.

Happy this project is progressing, it’s a missing link in both road and active transportation network.

In theory, more apartments and condos should mean lower tax bills if density increases. If this diagram is true then the reverse should also be true.

Here’s a sample of what Fox News thinks is bigger news than the worst day on the stock market since the Covid Crash.

Not even a headline story, but a sub story to the 4th headline on their site. No wonder 1/2 the nation lives in an alternate reality.

Want to make completely unacceptable past comments go away, write a book that makes your party leader look like a political saviour.

Just like Trump flattery will get you everywhere.

When Canada’s national railways were built there was as a real emphasis on East/West movement of goods and people.

As trade shifted to a North/South focus large network gaps formed as railways abandoned sections of track. As we rebuild trade patterns maybe we should start with rebuilding railways?

Lost train stations of London, ON. Michigan Central had running rights to London and ran freight and passenger service on the London and Port Stanley line till 1915 when the city purchased and electrified the line. Station was demolished in 1937.

The most obvious is the old bridge embankment off Richmond St. The original Richmond street bridge over the South branch of the Thames was first a rail bridge. It was later converted to autos after the railway closed.

The forgotten second rail link between London and Port Stanley.

Operating from 1902 to 1918 this offered a slower route but with more local connections than the rival London and Port Stanley Railway. Some remnants of the route can still be found in Old South.

This is the 3 story building on undeveloped land that people bear White Oaks and Southdale lost their shit over when it was proposed. Think of the children!

Especially when you consider that this is still standing about a km up the road

The new question might be, in light of today’s results, is Pribil in danger of retaining his seat municipally if he chooses to run again?

Here are the things we can find the the NDP platforms for transit

Support for transit projects in cities that will crate better transit in cities and between communities, but also some new mentions like two-way all day GO to more places.

Feel more and more like US diplomacy is becoming a mafia shake-down.

'I would hate for something bad to happen to you, perhaps you give us you canal/land/oil/rare earth minerals and we'll see that you don't get invaded or something'

The blue line is the current CPKC line in SW Ontario between Woodstock and Windsor, it passes through downtown London and Chatham. The red line is the former CASO and the CPKC owned Credit River ROW, 8KM longer and a lot less people. The 90s was out chance to get freight out of downtown London.

I know it’s too obvious, but any essential shoegaze list that doesn’t include this album shouldn’t be taken seriously

Really though the , the urbanized popping up around a suburban commuter rail station isn’t so bad.
