I figure oversharing on cool visuals from my game is really only a problem if said game ever finally releases.
Sort of a "win-win" there then.

(and there's still a bunch of stuff I'm going to keep under wraps permanently)

Many stories of haunted houses may be related to Cyclosa imago, also known as the Haunting Spider.
When a colony settles an abandoned building, they collectively defend against human intrusion by forming dense webs, which have been interpreted as ghostly apparitions.

The PS2 truly is the best console ever because it is constantly becoming more powerful. Each time we say something "looks like a PS2 game" we're talking about a game of a higher fidelity than the last. What the PS2 is capable of in 2025 is so far beyond what it was capable of in 2003. That's amazing

I love to work with geometric systems that never came up in my formal education, and instead rely on concepts such as "closed, open or very open" and "clockwise, anticlockwise, banticlockwise and canticlockwise"

Honestly I think you can boil down the state of the entire AAA industry to the following too-common beliefs:

1) Old games are bad because the point of software is new technology

2) New ideas are bad because the point of art is brand loyalty

3) Given 1+2 all games must combine old IP with new tech
Folks are rightfully shitting on Capcom for the Resident Evil GOG stuff, about how they didn't want to re-release the old games because the new ones exist or whatever, but almost every major publisher, Japanese or not, believes the same thing.

Like I believe Sega's recent franchise revival stuff --

In my late teens and twenties I was completely obsessed with the idea of a "scary toilet" / "scary swimming pool" game, but this concept has become so ubiquitous in the last 10 years that I really don't think I have any other nuance to add to the discussion now

I kinda wish Mashina was more popular, but the most important thing is that people who play it like it. Really proud of this one both as a game designer and a programmer.
Mashina is severely overlooked, another sort of Steamworld Dig kinda game where you play as a little stop-motion robot in a garbage world where everything is all hand-made and animated with stop-motion, it's a delight and how does it only have 87 reviews, what!? That's not right.
Save 20% on Mashina on Steam
A little robot digs to repair her world. Dig, build, discover and mend in a chill, stop-motion world.
