(7/8) AI isn’t just for detection: it’s helping predict and prevent.
Machine learning models can forecast where stubble burning is likely, allowing early outreach, and combine this with farmer education + subsidies = real impact.

(6/8) 🤖 AI and remote sensing are now being used to:
- Detect stubble burning in real-time
- Map crop residue levels via satellite imagery
ISRO + AI startups like Zuri are tracking fires faster than ever.

(5/8) Solutions do exist:
1. Happy Seeder machines to plant wheat without removing stubble
2. In-situ decomposition using bio-enzymes
3. Crop diversification & reducing rice cultivation
4. Government subsidies and awareness campaigns

(4/8) The impact?
- Severe air pollution across north India
- Respiratory illness spikes in urban & rural areas
- Soil health degradation
- Increased carbon emissions
Stubble burning is a rural act with urban consequences.

(3/8) Why do farmers burn stubble?
- Short window between rice and wheat seasons
- High cost of mechanical residue removal
- Lack of incentives to adopt eco-friendly methods
It’s not LAZINESS --- it’s a systemic issue tied to time, economics, and policy.

(2/8) After the rice harvest, many farmers in Punjab, Haryana & western UP burn leftover crop residue (stubble) to quickly clear fields for wheat
It’s fast and cheap, but it releases massive amounts of PM2.5, CO₂, and other pollutants into the air
