Hydra all day! You nailed it. Often Serpent and/or Rogue, too, but Hydra is ALWAYS there. It's low & the palm mutes generally sound better. Been eyeballing Argent, their recent 9 string(!?) inst.
Lately been throwing real dist/fuzz pedals into the chain to break out of the purely digital domain.

I want it to sound convincing but my goal is not to deceive, I just want it to sound good. I'm a one man band & prefer to work alone. Lean into my strengths & work around my weaknesses. I approach music more like producing a film than performing a play. Unfortunately that means no live shows. (3/3)

Definitely felt boxed in by what my stubby fucking fingers could hammer out. By the time I was feeling the itch to bring guitars back into my music virtual guitar tech had caught up. Metal GTX (which is free!) & the Shreddage instruments are incredible & can sound great w/ modern virtual amps. (2/3)

👋 Yep, all my guitars are virtual. While I started my musical journey on guitar I was never very good. My songwriting didn't improve much until I put the guitar down & focused purely on writing & composition. I can write much more interesting music w/o being limited by my physical skill. (1/3)

Nice. Thank you. The metal starts to come in on "1996: The Future". Prior to that was mostly my brand of synthwave.

Thank you! I have a habit of meshing disparate elements. On top of that, I didn't have a strong grasp on the specifics of a lot of metal subgenres at that point. MUCH better understanding of them now that I've been doing my radio show and the stuff I'm writing now is... still all over the place. 🤷

Agreed. The plot is clunky and too "handwavy" at times. By the halfway point or so, though, it's built up enough good will that easily let that go and ride the vibes. Definitely my favorite movie of the year. There are some that are probably "better" movies but only one I've watched 5 times.

I dabble in elements of that, particularly on this album. The rhythms aren't that complex but I try to keep it varied and interesting. Genre-wise its all over the place but low guitars & high intensity is the general goal. And synths. superscience.bandcamp.com/album/tooth-...
