I do like what they did with Reshrined on the whole. They could have turned it into a twin stick since that’s the modern expectation but they kept it single stick. I also like the magic trick they pulled with the story. Overall a great treatment of one of my top ten favorite games.

Bakeru isn’t Goemon and they shouldn’t try to make it be but I still trust their creative energies to produce something new enough to be exciting but familiar enough to be comforting.

Keeping with the Goemon example, I think the best thing I can hope for is what Bakeru is. A spiritual successor developed by a company, Good Feel, made up of some of the creatives who made the original IP.

A year or two ago I came to the conclusion that I do NOT want new Goemon games because I do not trust Konami with their own IP anymore.

Live A Live is not the most fun game until [REDACTED] but it’s a game I’m still glad exists. One, it’s a unique attempt and I respect the efforts and two, it gives Yoko Shimomura another chance to flex on us.
