Finally voted! Decided to focus on last five years. Kant would have been there - and high up - but Serving now seems a compromise too far (sorry Mariana!). As ever a strong showing from 🇵🇹 but this year - I never could have predicted! - my douze points goes to Albania 🇦🇱 ❤️

This book is absolutely brilliant- if you love SciFi… and even if you don’t. A series of strange interconnected stories that over time build into this rich and complex narrative about humanity in the distant future. Compelling and intelligent and emotional. A masterpiece!

Today is the 25th anniversary of me and my husband Michael first meeting in Manchester on a blind date. 😍 Since then, we’ve split up (briefly), gone round the world on a gap year, had way too many house moves (and holidays!), and been proud dog dads of border terriers Achilles and Rudi. 1/

It strikes me every time we do something radical - like go out of an evening - that me and my husband are such creatures of habit that the dog can spot the telltale signs about seven hours in advance. And yes he’s coming as well 😂

So according to the EHRC, trans women are now supposed to use men’s changing rooms and trans men are supposed to use women’s. Wow, they really have not thought this through at all.
