He was vetted years ago, before working with the CIA, and then before he arrived in the US in 2021. Both examinations involved the National Counterterrorism Center and the CIA.

He was granted asylum this year, which would have brought its own scrutiny — an assertion the WH did not dispute.

“Black Friday” was coined in the '60s by the Philadelphia police to refer to the chaotic day before the annual Army-Navy football game. Later, businesses reclaimed it as the day of the year they started to turn a profit (their bottom lines went from red to black).
