STEM librarian at awesome East Coast academic research library. LIBRARIES ARE COOL. I'm mostly books, scifi, Star Trek, + philosophy, but more too. (Opinions/choice of reposts my own.) @SueLibrarian.bsky.social

"This might be slightly overselling, but by the end of this book you should have an amazing new superpower. ...And this power does come with great responsibility: you could help slow - or even start to reverse - the damage we are doing to our natural world. So, no pressure." #Booksky

On Mondays I usually WFH; much easier to have a quick supper and then drive to band rehearsal. But no rehearsal tonight, AND after a long weekend, extroverts need to be with people. Happy to be here with my wonderful colleagues!

This wonderful mystery (1997) by former Washington Post food critic Phyllis Richman is the perfect blend of murder, chefs, and amazing dishes. Great fun! (BetterWorldBooks has it for less than $6. Or use BookShop.org.)

Don't miss "Skipping Christmas" (2001). The crummy movie may have steered people away from the book, but the book is very funny on many levels and a great read. #BookSky @bertsbooks.bsky.social

"The ScotNorth was the only shop in town you couldn't take your dog into. ...[I]t wasn't much fun for the staff either when the local Irish wolfhound, Finn MacDrool, had to be tied up and howled so loudly that it set off car alarms up and down the street."

I am a huge Zenna Henderson fan and was delighted to see a cover to one of the books I have! My others (shown) are stories of "The People," which are wonderful and touching. (Sadly, I'm missing some of her other books; someday.) Thx!

The Great Frederick Fair! Gorgeous weather and I walked a lot, hooray. Important Note: Friend Steve reminded me that a root beer float is technically a beverage and does not count as dessert.

Today I am at Clark Hall all day to teach during the four sections of BME freshman labs. Always interesting!

Currently in a pile on my bed. More print than usual; only ebook is "Wicked." I take what the library has. More nonfic than usual too; only "Wicked"+"Book Woman" are fiction. Of the 7 I'm actually reading "Wicked" (bk club) and "AI Con"+"More Than Words" (school). What's in your book pile? #BookSky

Hi, hugonauts.bsky.social, I'm catching up with "14 Best First Contact Books." I notice the absence of "Second Contact" by the immortal Mike Resnick. Yes, I realize that it's "First," but this is really about the First *and* the Second and really great. Thx!
