Getting closer to #MikroTik RouterOS 7.20 stable!

Glad to see the attention on BGP and getting more bugs getting fixed :)

I've been meaning to get my hands dirty with the #MikroTik EVPN implementation & created an interop lab with #IPInfusion OcNOS

The OcNOS core acts as a BGP route reflector for both the IPv4 & EVPN AFIs which allows the MikroTik routers to create dynamic VTEPs using EVPN.

#MikroTik continues to expand BGP route filtering capabilities.

New in 7.20.x, the input.accept-nlri command allows routes learned to be filtered before they enter memory. Useful if you're taking in a large number of routes and don't need all or most of them.

Big news for #MikroTik operators that need to create filters for BGP and other protocols!!! (Thanks to @BergNetwork (x) for pointing it out!)

Starting in v7.20beta6, they have released a routing-filter wizard to make it easier to create routing filters. Attached are examples😎

In the last few weeks, #MikroTik has expanded their documentation on EVPN.

It's encouraging to see they are testing the ROSv7 implementation against #Arista EOS to verify interoperability.

#MikroTik ROS 7.19.3 is released.

*) bridge - allow IPv6 FastPath when dhcp-snooping is enabled

This is great to see because it should allow #IPv6 routers to act as a delegating router when using relay to a centralized DHCPv6-PD server without sacrificing performance.

Finally converting my standard EVE-NG lab over to the 3fff::/20 IPv6 space (RFC 9637)

So helpful to break apart /32s & mock-up ISP networks instead of "cheating" with 2001:db8::/32

In this example...

3fff:994a::/32 is used for the ISP being modeled
3fff:da7a::/32 is used for the transit ASN

Interesting and useful addition to /ip/services in #MikroTik

Now you can view services other than management protocols (SSH/Winbox/etc) like BFD.

Not only can you see the ports BFD is listening on, but you can also see the IPv4 and IPv6 connections to that port. 😎

In addition to EVPN being added in #MikroTik ROS 7.20, there are a couple other notable additions to BGP that quietly slipped into the release.

- BGP instances
- BGP advertise IPv4 prefix with IPv6 nexthop (RFC5549,RFC8950)

#MikroTik recently migrated forum.mikrotik.com to a new platform based on discourse to replace the older phpbb software.

I was resistant to it at first even though I love dark mode, but it's growing on me :)

What's your opinion on the new forums?
