Real progress in the car space isn't going to happen until we're making stuff at LEAST as good as a Geo Metro. Lightweight, 50 MPG engine, Cheap, and there's no nonsense in the design. Even as an ICEV, this has less waste associated than 10 EVs by the end of its lifetime.

Much as I applaud your taste, I only wish to warn you as a two-time Subaru owner (because I guess all lesbians are fated), those Boxer engines are a money pit especially because the engines are in two pieces that have to be bolted together.

Someday, if all these techno-grifters try really, really hard, their two-ton appliances may be as cheap, efficient, and useful as a Geo Metro, but by then you'll have a public with no useful skills and millions of 1-ton batteries to dispose of.
