The only thing holding it back is Sega refusing to acknowledge any console that isn’t the Genesis/Mega Drive (unless it’s a Sonic game). They are deathly allergic to revisiting the SMS, CD, 32X, Saturn, or Dreamcast.

A complete Shining Force III release in the west would be nice. Fans have already done the legwork with translation, and Sega has shown willingness to work with the fan community (see Christian Whitehead). Seems like a slam dunk.

I quite enjoyed it. It distinguishes itself from the original enough to not feel like a retread, but shows respect for the original in its own way. I don't think the "uncut" label is deserved, though; it's far less shocking in graphic content than the original.

I think it depends on how far down you zoom in. Most people born between, say, 76-80, will have all experienced the onset of AIDS, the Challenger explosion, and the fall of the Berlin Wall. But overall, yes, there's still going to be wild differences even in a short time span based on those factors.
