Loved this. Was too excited to read all the cards so I'm guessing this was something to do with conversion from coal to gas
The brick kiln roof again, this bit having a couple of lengths of metal pipe held in a single, broken horizontal line a couple of feet above the brick roof/floor by thinner metal staples or hoops. The gap between the two pipes is bridged by a length of (I think) rubber hose, pushed up into a tall arch, so that the whole looks like your classic Sesame Street caterpiller mid walk cycle. There is a row of pipes on each side of this emerging from the brick floor/roof, connected to the central bit by more rubber (probably) hose Same again, different angle Same again, from higher up

Lovely orangey red colour, extremely thin lines of mortar between, soft edges to the outer edges An example of a single rubbing brick on a rubbing stone, looking like a soft browny red hunk of chalk or pastel with chamfered edges Accompanying text: "Rubbing Bricks From very early on the use of low-fired bricks that could be easily cut and rubbed has been used to decorate buildings. The skill first came to this country with the Flemish brickmakers and by the end of the 15th Century English craftsmen had adopted it in their work. The use of rubbed brick has waxed and waned over time. Popular up to the early 18th Century their use then declined. This was due to several factors including cost, taste and the introduction of materials such as Stucco. In the 19th Century the skill was re-introduced with the Arts and Crafts movement. Rubbed bricks can be carved, shaped and laid with very thin mortar joints. All kinds of decorative effects can be created. The display shows a bench set up for cutting and rubbing bricks and the tools required. The bright red colour of the bricks is characteristic of the fact they have not been burnt to the usual high temperature."

Big gorgeous rusty metal thing outside. It's part of the cable car type system used to convey buckets of bricks across from the works to the goods out area. Like the thing that tipped the waste out at sea in Get Carter.
