ya, like I'm sure it not completely unique but it's definitely a higher traffic example than I would think would exist.

just one of the many oversights for people outside of cars. here's a bonus one for fun that I regularly encounter, why is this not connected??

Went to look at the map and it's showing a crash at Lady Hammond x Kempt now, which reminded me that I walked through it last week and noticed there were no pedestrian signals at an otherwise signaled intersection? felt weird

Ya I came across these as well but maybe a little too much for now, definitely could see getting some in the future for longer routes, etc. (or for me)

If I'm understanding right they have two different kinds, the traditional stomp ones and ones that you can turn on and stay on. The latter you can recharge via USB, not sure what the battery life is like but hopefully isn't a nightly requirement.

Was doing some further reading about how having lights on moving body parts is best so now I'm exploring getting some light up boots like these Northern Lights ones from Absolute for my kid: www.instagram.com/p/DQUbwdekX24/

I've been wondering about that! Especially the first week of November when it was very low.
But it was a new route to me so figured it might just be the way its always been after it hadn't been fixed quickly. Supported by resting on a chainlink fence is proper cable management right?

Thanks for that. Feels like they should just switch to always turn green in the meantime (or just leave it that way) if this is the case.
It's like they figured out how to make beg buttons for bikes but worse.

100%, but also to save them from themselves, that parking sign should be 8ft forward.

I wish I know what the tipping point to this was, what zany item went too far?

A rock seems fine in this case considering you don't care if the electronics are functional afterwards.

Burnside leg was going great until we almost got completely taken out by a driver running a red for a right turn. She looked completely shocked that someone might be in the crosswalk while the walk light was lit.

Oh sorry, Burnside is the detour to drop off my kid, bike rack I spoke of is in the Kempt Rd area.

Currently losing that battle for sure then ha. Hoping their proximity alarm helps me too though. I've certainly set theirs off a few times while locking up my bike.
November 4, 2025 at 1:49 PM
There's been another e-bike on the rack each morning which is reassuring, though they definitely have more robust locks and theft deterrence than I do so may look into upgrading my own.
