Interested in most things , but posts are most likely to be Kent birding related.
Bomis Prendin. My most obscure LP (arguably with good reason), if omitting people I know personally. Just googled and he/they are still putting stuff out on bandcamp/YouTube, so A+ for perseverance!

Back from a few days around Cley and the Brecks - Pt1 . Bittern showed exceptionally well along the river at Lakenheath RSPB (most other feeding areas dried up). Found a Wryneck, but location wasn't suitable for twitchers/toggers so left it in peace. No skuas seen on seawatches. #Norfolkbirding

Small Copper and Wall Brown in Faversham area this morning. At the time I was frustrated that the Wall wouldn't cooperate for a back wing shot but now pleased with the angle I got #kentnature

At least 8 (+ probably others out of view) Common Tern chicks on the raft at Stodmarsh this morning. The bird in the photos was hovering outside the Reedbed Hide #kentbirding

Sure is a great day for doomscrolling, but for light relief here's some Kent wildlife from the weekend. Med Gull was at Faversham duck pond. Hedgehog I disturbed in garden shed and was making its way to an alternative hideout. #Kentwildlife #kentbirding

Oil Beetle at Conyer (check out wiki for interesting life cycle). Bird-wise, pretty quiet by late morning (no T Dove or Cuckoo heard), but a Spot Fly encountered along east side path and approx 40 grey plover on Swale.

Stodmarsh yesterday evening. Still a pair of Garganey showing extremely well from reedbed hide (my daughter's photos). Other highlights - several Bitterns booming, a Nightingale along the path to the hide, big pre-roost gathering of hirundines, and Tawny Owl calling in car park area.

Sparrowhawk out of the back window, proving that even "non-birding" days have some birding in them. #kentbirding

Sorting out some 2024 photos and remembering the Dengemarsh Rd Pied Wagtail, that figured out it could get food out of the little spider webs on car wing mirrors.

Oare marshes reserve management. Does it have to be so drastic? Whilst I appreciate a wider view of the east flood, and that reeds and brambles grow back quickly, this is still removing breeding sites and shelter for various small birds and mammals for a year at least.

Record shot of the Red Necked Grebe at Oare this morning. Wren on the patio was a lot closer though, picking edible morsels off the surface of the water.

Garden sparrow count rose to 26 this morning, better but still a dozen below last year. Arty window reflections a bonus.

Thanks for posting. Saw the grey partridges today (in field north of Down Court Road) . Any idea whether this is a self sustaining population (I know there have been past reports from same field) ?
