/4 Before 1940 Jewish population in Norway was
approximately 2,100 people, growing in the late 1930s due to refugees from Central Europe. Most Jews lived in Oslo. Smaller community in Trondheim. The population was devastated during WW II after Norway was occupied by Nazi Germany in April 1940.

/3 Norway banned Jewish people until the 1850's. A ban prohibiting Jews from entering Norway, stemming from a 1687 decree, was in effect until 1851. The ban persisted after the 1814 constitution was created, which also reinforced the exclusion of Jews.

True given all of the horrendous policies of his administration. But, I'm beyond glad that these hostages got released from their barbaric captivity.
