There are specific reasons Trumpists want war on Venezuela, but there‘s a generic one: they crave power to make war on anyone, any time, for completely fabricated reasons, and then to use the guise of war to increase violence and repression everywhere, including home.

They are lawless bestial scum.

Creating a military conflict with Venezuela gives this administration a legal "hook" to invoke the Alien Enemies Act. In other words, the foreign war is being manufactured in order to facilitate court deference for its domestic mass deportation policy. It's a Stephen Miller Special.

As I have been arguing, the policy outcomes are less important than the political ones: legitimation of Alberta as a distinct, sovereign actor entitled to special treatment, and legitimation of alleged grievances.

The attempt to placate will only embolden, because the goal isn't compromise.

Good work by @althiaraj.bsky.social on the inside story of Guilbeault's resignation, from his being frozen out by PMO, given false assurances, and being made to wear the government walking back on pledges he made to Elizabeth May to secure her support. No kidding it was untenable for him to stay.

This is one of the most important exposés published in WSJ in several years, and it derives from intercepts and analyses by foreign intelligence services studying the conduct of Trump and his inner team. It's first and foremost a wake up call to the people of the United States.

The Kremlin pitched the White House on peace through business. To Europe’s dismay, the president and his envoy are on board.

Pissing off BC and progressive voters and Indigenous folks and his own MPs now. Pissing off Alberta separatists later. Brilliant approach!
I'm seeing a lot of Liberals gloat about how they think they played Smith and this pipeline will be tied up in legal challenges for years.

Yeah, legal challenges that we in BC will have to fight. Carney just dropped a steaming pile on our doorstep to clean up.

Thanks?

I think its the arrogance Liberals have while selling their souls that is the kicker. The constant lecturing to progressives with that ‘I know better tone’ while they serially fuck over the people who elected them.

I'm not interested in "I told you so."

A lot of people voted Liberal because they were terrified of Poilievre and his gang. I get that.

But Carney's who we got, he's being a weak leader, pushing policies that are harming the vast majority of us and it's time to just admit he sucks and push back.
