which he undid all season instead of focusing on showing why Cassian rose to the rank of Captain. The reluctant rebel arc and that ending didn't work for me at all.

He has forgotten how meaningful that ending was on its own. Instead of writing a prequel to Rogue One, I feel Gilroy was on a mission to 'correct' whatever he thought was wrong with the movie, including the potential romance between Jyn and Cassian.

I'm so glad someone was brave enough to write about this. I think Gilroy made a mess of Cassian's story. His side characters are great, but he admitted he didn't rewatch Rogue One before Andor, and it shows.
