#COMPANIONSofCHRISTMAS: Mrs. Claus!

Mrs. Claus was once better known by her given name, Alba. She was the nymph of the silver fir tree, a captain in the retinue of the goddess Artemis, and she first met Saint Nicolas when he came to do battle with her Lady. 1/

Wildlife tracking! I'm reposting things I made this past year. If you look closely at the deer tracks you'll see I added the hint that they're double registering (hind foot is stepping into the same spot as front foot).

Let me give some insight on this, as a producer in the dub industry who worked with major streamers, who's witnessed first-hand where this push for AI is coming from.

tl;dr: Only CEOs want this. Tell them how much you hate it. Be loud, email, call, @, post. You will kill this.

🧵⬇️
The only thing less human than these AI dub performances is the decision to sign off on them

A company this big can pay human actors a decent wage, not produce slop that intentionally removes the human element.

Cash update: I actually came with about €660 and I have about €220 left with half a day (plus airport tomorrow) to go. I've done okay, it's been very helpful that I had mostly small bills so I've been able to pay exact frequently. Probably going to ask my friend to pay me for €150 or so.

Eurostar obviously superior to LNER (adequate luggage space, attendants aren't rude af), but the res livery makes the carriages feel like a boudoir. Really it's just not the shinkansen.

Not sure I've ever taken the Brussels Metro before (I was a broke grad student when I lived here so I walked a lot) and it's almost comically sad. They still have the actual 1970s carriages in service and they're so dim and orange and sad. But also newer carriages! Which are also sad.

This fight over “should authors get paid for their work” debate boils down to this: many, MANY people do not see art as labor.
If art isn’t labor, then you don’t have to change your political views to justify piracy. Easy peasy!

We love this incredible fact, but it also leads to the realisation that the first dinosaurs emerged in a completely different spiral arm of the galaxy!

Let's try and work this out. Astro-professionals, please shout if we get any of this wrong..

It's Friday, and apparently bluesky is ready for this fun revelation:

Dinosaurs lived on the other side the Galaxy.
